I discovered Pilates around sixteen years ago, and fell in love with it instantly.
I am a fourth generation, fully qualified and insured, Level 3 Mat Pilates Instructor. I aim to provide a warm, welcoming environment to learn and exercise at your own pace. I am keen not only to teach you the exercises and give you a good workout, but also to teach you to listen to your body, learn about your body, and its strengths/weaknesses/imbalances/alignment – and develop your body awareness.
“Pilates is complete coordination of mind, body and spirit.” - Joseph Pilates
I am interested in helping people use the Pilates principles and fundamentals to target their deep core muscles, find their correct movement patterns and use the full range of movement in their muscles. My holistic approach to exercise will bring you all the benefits of Pilates, at your pace, in a safe but challenging way.
I am a Pilates Associate Member of CIMSPA, and an APPI Certified Instructor for Women's Health - having completed several CPD specialist courses in Pilates and the Pelvic Floor, Pilates for Menopause and Pilates for Pre and Post Natal Women. I have also taken CPD courses in Pilates for Osteoporosis and Pilates for Runners. I incorporate elements of these into my classes, and can also offer 1:1 sessions in these areas. I have also recently completed CPD on the “Pilates Ball” and Breathwork/Breathing Patterns.
I have a particular love of Pilates’ original classical exercises, and enjoy helping clients carefully build their strength in order to perform them and realise their benefits. All exercises in class can be modified to suit individual bodies, and improve strength, flexibility and mobility.
When I am not practising or teaching Pilates, I like trail running, yoga, cold water swimming and forest bathing. I also practice Reiki and offer Reiki treatments. I am a huge fan of Yorkshire Tea.
